I understand some may prefer the default Windows 10 interface. But why take away what so many of us prefer? I just got a new laptop; it has Windows 10 and I absolutely hate it because, for me, it is so counter-intuitive and confusing.

Is this a conscious decision by Microsoft to alienate users like me who have been strong defenders and supporters of Microsoft? It’s working. Microsoft has convinced me it simply doesn’t care about people like me. But perhaps I am being too harsh. Maybe there’s simple way to get this. I’ve looked through prior questions and I just got more confused. In Tablet mode, apps open full screen, giving you more space to work and read books.

In this article, we will go over how to enter and exit Tablet mode followed by an overview of the information needed to navigate it. If you want to use Tablet mode on your desktop device, type Tablet mode settings into Windows search and open settings. Before selecting what mode you want your device to start up in, consider how often you plan on using it in Tablet mode.

If you select the default Always ask me before switching , your device will always ask if you want to switch to Tablet mode before doing so. One big improvement is the Tablet Mode — a feature that helps you use the touchscreen much easier. In this mode, you get everything run in full-screen, even the Start Menu. On the downside, the entire Desktop is disabled in Tablet Mode.

Now the Start Menu is your new Desktop. Any content of an adult theme or inappropriate to a community web site. Any image, link, or discussion of nudity. Any behavior that is insulting, rude, vulgar, desecrating, or showing disrespect. Any behavior that appears to violate End user license agreements, including providing product keys or links to pirated software. Unsolicited bulk mail or bulk advertising. Any link to or advocacy of virus, spyware, malware, or phishing sites.

Any other inappropriate content or behavior as defined by the Terms of Use or Code of Conduct. Any image, link, or discussion related to child pornography, child nudity, or other child abuse or exploitation.

Turn tablet mode on or off

 

In Windows 10, Microsoft has tried very hard to right many wrongs with Windows 8. One big improvement is the Tablet Mode — a feature that helps you use the touchscreen much easier.

In this mode, you get everything run in full-screen, even the Start Menu. On the downside, the entire Desktop is disabled in Tablet Mode. Now the Start Menu is your new Desktop. The idea behind these tricks is super simple. That is pinning the Desktop folder either to the Start Menu or the Taskbar. First you need to open File Explorer. The easiest way to do this in Tablet Mode is tap the Start button, then tap the three-line button on the very top left corner.

By default, File Explorer opens into Quick Access and the Desktop folder is already pinned in this section. Finally, just right click the folder and pin it to Start. The other way to open your Desktop in Tablet Mode is via the Taskbar. Here are the steps to do that.

I am currently on windows 10 build I had installed all dell XPS 12 drivers on build , and recall that the auto-switch was working.
