Go to the Choose Editing Languages section, and select a language from the list. If the language isn’t listed, select the Add additional editing languages drop-down arrow and choose a language. Choose a language from the list. Word will consider the highlighted selection to be the non-default, selected language and will check the spelling and grammar accordingly.

Language options for Office Online are similar to those in desktop versions of Office. In Office Online, highlight the text for proofing in the non-default language. All proofing in that selected block will be governed by the rules of the alternative language. The display and keyboard layout languages used in Office for Mac are the same as the ones for the operating system.

You cannot use separate languages for the OS and Office applications. However, you can specify a different proofing language for Office for Mac. To change the proofing language for new documents, select Default.

If you select OK instead of Default , the proofing language you chose will only apply to the current file. Normally, Word defaults to the language of the operating system.

As a rule, you should use Windows to install language files rather than rely on an application like Word to do it for you. In the left pane, select Pages , choose the page you want to delete and tap the delete or backspace key. To check the word count in Microsoft Word , look at the status bar. To insert a signature in Microsoft Word , scan and insert a signature image into a new Word document and type your information beneath the signature.

In reply to Carlo Fer’s post on August 23, When I left click on many words it now says No Suggestions. It did not do that before. I have Word , Office , and Windows Strat Word and check this issue.

Registry change no difference Safe mode no difference new normal. Forgot to mention when I log on to device as administrator it does the same thing, that’s why I reimaged it. Complete wipe and reinstall of everything. Installed proofing tools and set default languages, installed language package no change upgraded Office to 64bit no change.

NadineC Sorry for delay, I installed the same version and channel of Microsoft apps, but this problem cannot be reproduced yet. In reply to Sisbirdie’s post on September 1, Most settings in Word will be shaded indicating mixed formatting if you select more than a small portion of the document, but you can still click twice to clear the box. Bug found with current version of Word MSO If you use the spell checker, the thesaurus does not work without restarting Word. Cannot use them at the same time.

I did see that it found no problems with my hard drive. Again, I can’t i. I just finished a long process with another bleeping computer member who was trying to fix a slowing computer. After the thesaurus problem arose, we ran a program that ruled out anything he did that would have caused this.

And I can’t say for sure that it stopped working while we ran different programs as I don’t use the thesaurus that often. Any help is appreciated. Are there any listed in there and if so are they valid, do the files exist? Posted 06 March – AM James, the file in custom dictionaries is valid and checked. I was hoping to avoid that. I’ve tried repairing Word or maybe it was all of Office but that didn’t help.
