This book is an invaluable tool for both new and experienced Project Managers who want to use Microsoft Project as their project management software.
What makes this book stand-out in comparison to other similar books is that it presents the tools and skills that new project managers need to quickly get abreast in the use of Microsoft Project software. Experienced Project Managers will also find it invaluable as it helps them to quickly set up and use the Microsoft project software. The approach use in its presentation and the colorful step-by-step guidance provided will be appreciated by new users who will find it a quick and ready hands-on reference book.
Trainers will also find it a helpful recommended book to their students as well. There is always a place and time for more in depth coverage of any software training especially for more experienced Project Management professionals and users of project management software.
Such approaches could make the learning and use of Microsoft Project software a more daunting task for new users. In my opinion, the method used by the author avoid this pitfall. It presents new users a gentle learning curve that helps them to build their experiences grounds-up before delving into more in-depth, voluminous and time demanding approach used in other texts.
This book will help you to learn and use Microsoft Project within the shortest possible time. It is highly recommended. One person found this helpful. Great book in it’s simplicity. I am not a PM professional, just an interested stakeholder who was getting majorly pee’d-O in having the project constantly going off track and crashing.
I needed to get a handle on the project and it was like trying to balance on a moving training highballing to a deadend trestle.
The data was there in a ppm format, I just need a way to pull it up and see where I was at. This tome is as the title portrays: getting through it was “short and basic. Getting through it gave you the basics of what everything did and where it was if you had to find it; and enough of the language to be able to quiry the help systems to get you close to what you wanted to do. The walk throughs and example with either made up data or “working” data took you to points where you could adapt the techiques and tools to what you had to do.
Or got you close enough to work your way to what you wanted to show. It is not a know all, do all, book, but a good basic starter. Once you get going, you can look for other texts on specific topics areas you need to work on. I recommend this to anyone who needs to do a quick study of Project , who has little knowledge of scheduling, and has to start to work in I’m new to using MS Project, and don’t have the option for guided learning, so I purchased this book about a month ago to help me get started on my own.
So far, I think that it’s a pretty good general guide for using Microsoft Project The index is fairly comprehensive, and if you know what you’re looking for it will direct you to the appropriate part of the book. The first 60 pages of the book are all introductory – how to use the book as a reference and getting down the basics of Project.
It’s written in a very simple and straightforward manner, so it’s great if you’re a Project newbie like myself. It’s also incredibly well-illustrated multiple labeled screenshots for almost everything! However, it’s not really great for troubleshooting. In my case, I was given a schedule to work with that already had problems – and you kind of need to know what the problem is that you’re having before you can look up the step-by-step process to fix it.
However, this book works fabulously as a supplement to internet searches. The diagrams are all full-color, and the text each section is color-coded. This makes it really easy to flip right to the section that you’re looking for, or to browse within a section. I was a little disappointed with how thin the paper in this book is, though. It seems a little flimsy, and the printing on the other side of the page and on the next page shows through.
I have been assigned to the Microsoft Project Manager software at work so I picked up this book for my kindle to learn as I go. Still in early stages of learning but the book is great along side the program while I follow through the chapters. I have been using the chapters as individual lessons and so far have learned a lot about the program.
Very helpful and I like the writers style. Good book. I had the book, it helps me a lot. I love it. This booklet is pretty light on content. It is well organized and usable, but not very good at helping a moderate user with MSP features. A useful book. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. You can find pretty much all the information this book provides on the internet for free.
However, it does structure the guide in a good way but not worth buying Report abuse. Product arrived on time and was as advertised. No complaints. Good layout and easy to follow. A small section on managing multiple projects and associated resources would have gained a 5th star, most project engineers handle more than one project. Pages with related products. I have used the Microsoft “Step by Step” series books throughout my career, and they are best for gaining a complete 10, foot view of a particular application. If you are already familiar with an app, then this is not the resource you want to start off with. I had not used Microsoft Project since Project , and I hadn’t used it that much in my job anyway so I bought this to get me up to speed on the interface changes, new features, etc.
The best thing about Step by Step books is that they provide practice files and EXACT instructions so you know that you are using the application correctly. Great series. I highly recommend it for beginners and intermediate users who want a good solid understanding of an app. For a deeper dive on individual aspects of the app, I would choose another resource like “Project Unleashed”, etc.
Wonderful book for the beginner. It comes with practice files that go along with the book. It walks you through just like the title step by step. Many books proclaim that, but expect you to “know” some things already.
This book teaches the things to “know”1. I had to have this for one of my classes, and found I loved having books available in Kindle form. Most of the information is common sense to an experienced manager, but good for beginners to learn.
One person found this helpful. Exactly what i wanted great product. Excellent product. My daughter is hooked. Good book for learnin stuff. Great resource. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. This is fine until you need the files. MSProject is v expensive for personal use so most project managers will only have it installed on a work machine. Now just try downloading or copying them onto a hardened machine such as those issued by almost any modern company.
Report abuse. Having had no previous experience of Project I found this book to be extremely clear and helpful, with topics introduced and explained in a straightforward manner. Useful for the basic day to day features of the product.
Would need another product for the more in depth, more advanced, less used features. Very good book For refresh, for newusers and for reference. Handy is also the code to download the pdf version.

I had to restrain my hopes when I bought this Kindle eBook. It’s big so I thought I had a chance at learning how to use the difficult to learn Microsoft Project I owned. I’d read that my version was a minor upgrade from the version so Microsotf figured it would work for me.
Well, it didn’t, but not because there are that many differences between the two versions. Let me begin in the author’s defense. It seems that Ms. Bonnie Biafore, the author, started prlject a great project. I say this because there are sample data files that seem to be coordinated for virtually every chapter. But my guess is that when someone, whether it is the author or the publisher, saw how big the book was becoming, the idea of a book that had coordinated tutorial files and instructions was nixed.
Instead, the data files are only referenced in the captions of the screen captures. Next, the book is, therefore, not a tutorial but compendium pfoject usage steps that are hard to organize into a cohesive whole in my mind. Note that Bonnie is an engineer. That leads me to suspect that she is quite intelligent which explains why I find the book hard to really understand.
This book is really starting to frustrate me. I try and study the sample files but can’t understand what she is trying to do with her sample files. Therefore, if I make changes to a file, I don’t understand when, why or where the changes ripple.
If I can’t understand what effect I have, I can’t learn the software. This microsoft project 2013 book amazon free download my 2nd book on this version of Project. I can’t really stand a print book, so many Project books are not acceptable to me. I won’t get into why I guess so many authors won’t offer their titles in eBook format. A few caveats: 1. DO NOT buy the program. Subscribe to Смотрите подробнее and get the upgrade.
Here’s why: a. The purchase of MS Project Standard is less than a subscription. In the subscription you get the Project Microsoft project 2013 book amazon free download, not Project Standard. The books I checked out or bought periodically used Professional’s features and you’ll want them.
You get tech support included in the subscription price. Not sure this is worth it because Microsoft does NOT seem to have Project specialists in their free technical support department. If you purchase instead of subscribe, there is zero free technical support. Moreover, Pressreader for windows 10 is a Microsoft “professional” program. DO Dead regeneration pc game free version buy a book that does not correspond with your version.
Microsoft project 2013 book amazon free download will be enough differences to ruin your efforts. DO NOT buy a cheaper book. I’m thinking of going with amazpn. Note that many MS Project books are geared towards project managers.
If you’re using Project because, for example, you’re an author, you may have some problems. Best of luck. Projedt bought this for a Project Management class and the layout dodnload the manual is hard to follow. Because microsoft project 2013 book amazon free download is electronic page number don’t match up well so Microsoft project 2013 book amazon free download had a hard time doing projects for the course. Although there are a lot of webinar courses on Microsoft Project, there appear to be fewer rigorous textbooks and I figured this would be one of them.
I have had good experiences with the MOAC texts on ExcelWord and Microsoft project 2013 book amazon free downloadthey were very thorough and useful in helping me practice for certification. Rpoject, it may not seem like a big deal but the text is not full color! While this may not microsoft project 2013 book amazon free download a big deal on a program like Word, it is for interface intensive instruction required for programs like Project, Excel, Access.
For example critical path tasks are referenced as highlighted in red but shown in grayscale, not ideal! For a textbook as expensive as this full color is expected. The companion site for this book, the one holding the supporting training files, is not available.
When contacted via live chat, the supplier had no information on WHEN it will be available. The book is a well organized teaching companion. However, microaoft contains the typical academic text errors. It is recommended that you wait until the second edition is published, to allow time to 1 populate the Web Site with the supporting “Companion” material training files and to 2 correct the errors in the text.
Book was in excellent condition. I used it for my college class and it was spot on with the детальнее на этой странице I needed. Fast shipping and great price, what more could I ask for. I had to restrain my hopes when I bought this Kindle eBook.
It’s big so I thought I had a chance at learning how to use the difficult to learn Microsoft Project I owned. I’d read that my version was a minor upgrade from the version so I figured it would work for me. Well, it didn’t, but not because there are that many differences between the two versions.
Let me begin in the author’s defense. It seems that Ms. Bonnie Biafore, the author, started with a great project.
Next, the book is, therefore, not a tutorial but compendium of usage steps that are hard to organize into a cohesive whole in my mind.
This is my 2nd book on this version of Project. I can’t really stand a print book, so many Project books are not acceptable to me. I won’t get into why I guess so many authors won’t offer their titles in eBook format. A few caveats: 1. DO NOT buy the program. Subscribe to Office and get the upgrade.
Here’s why: a. The purchase of MS Project Standard is less than a subscription. In the subscription you get the Project Professional, not Project Standard. The books I checked out or bought periodically used Professional’s features and you’ll want them.
You get tech support included in the subscription price. Not sure this is worth it because Microsoft does NOT seem to have Project specialists in their free technical support department. If you purchase instead of subscribe, there is zero free technical support.
Moreover, Project is a Microsoft “professional” program. DO NOT buy a book that does not correspond with your version. There will be enough differences to ruin your efforts. DO NOT buy a cheaper book. I’m thinking of going with one. Note that many MS Project books are geared towards project managers. If you’re using Project because, for example, you’re an author, you may have some problems.
Best of luck. I bought this for a Project Management class and the layout of the manual is hard to follow. Because it is electronic page number don’t match up well so I had a hard time doing projects for the course. I just broke down and purchase the actually book. It you are using outside of a course it should work well.
The content of the book is easy to follow and apply. One person found this helpful. I purchased for an online class in tech project management that I am taking. Very easy to read and follow, makes using Project a breeze! The author does a great job of translating a boring PM software manual into an enjoyable read. Would recommend for anyone looking to master Project I only used it a couple times for class. It went into more detail about different things than my textbook did; however, I barely used it throughout the quarter.
I rented the Kindle version which made it very easy to search and find different things in the book. Bonnie takes a real world approach to project management and applying those principles to MS Project. MS Project works more productively for the user if they have a process and a goal for developing schedules.
Her methodology of project process first and then apply the process with example for using the software is spot on. Another one of those books that become a critical item if you work with this program. I find it useful as a “go-to” tool when I get stuck attempting to do something new with this program. Definitely a welcomed “right hand man” when your stuck!!! Biafore has provided an excellent introduction to Project planning and use of Microsoft’s software.
The book is well designed and the illustrations and diagrams are very useful. Excellent introduction to Project. Class required textbook. See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. This really is the missing manual, I’ve learned a lot and I’m less than half way through. This is CPD for me, upgrade mu knowledge Keep this alongside your computer.
